Last Sunday 9 December we organised the 10th LATEEN SAILING REGATTA which as is the case each year is held on these significant dates to mark the Saint’s Day of our Patron Saint “The Immaculate Conception”.
The regatta was initially planned for Thursday 6 but had to be delayed due to lack of wind.
Six Latten Sailing boats with a total of 18 participants met at our installations to take to the sea after the skippers’ meeting in which details of the regatta were discussed. They enjoyed a splendid day although with limited wind which the skippers used their skills to make the most of, managing to complete a full leg on the regatta course laid out off Náufragos beach.
At the end of the competition, the first placed were the following:
1st place: Pelícano (A. Andreu, B. Bertomeu).
2nd place: Leon Dormido (A. F. Murillo, M. C. Carrillo).
3rd place: Mar Azul Cuatro (G. Monseur, B. Andreu).
After the regatta, a snack was offered at the CNMI Tower where the subject of the day was how well the participants had done and the motivation and effort of them all to promote and support Lateen Sailing. An objective which, together with clubs such as Santa Pola and Cartagena, will continue to be carried out through various activities and events coordinated together.
Congratulations to the winners and to all the participants!
