Last Saturday 28 July from 22:00 to 07:00 h the CNMI organised the 8th GILT-HEAD BREAM COMPETITION, a fishing contest in which 5 boats and a total of 16 anglers participated.

The fishing area was free, within 7 miles from Port and with one variety of fish to be caught, Gilt-head Bream, minimum size 15cm/fish, in accordance with the regulations established by the Spanish Federation of Fishing and Casting, with a catch weight of the total weight per boat.

The contest took place on calm seas and with great success in catches. Eighteen Kg. of Gilt-Head Bream was the weight caught by the winner, the boat “SALVAGIN”, skippered by DANIEL GARCÍA MARHUENDA and the young angler DANIEL GARCÍA SERNA, who both also achieved the largest fish with a weight of 550 gr. Second place went to LA CACHIRULA, skippered by Alfonso Javier Navarro Espejo, with a catch of 12 Kg. Third place went to the boat “La Alegría”, with David Oltra Rodriguez at the helm.

At 7:30h on Sunday, after the weigh-in, the Club offered all the participants the traditional chocolate and churros.
